The Vertical and Horizontal Template Turning Diploma Course begins with a discussion of basic design elements and how to create properties for the new model.  Included in this course is how to calculate the shrinkage of the clay and the formula to resize the model so that it will fire to the correct dimensions. You will be shown how to compose the model on graph paper and transfer the expanded drawing to the template. You will be shown how to cut the template, and then polish it to perfection.  Then you will be shown how to mount the template on the lathe correctly and shown how to secure the newly turned plaster cast on the rod. Then you will shown how to quickly disengage the item after the turning is completed.

The Vertical Template Turning program deals with items such as vases, canister, pots, etc. The Horizontal Template Turning program deals with items such as tableware-plates, bowls, cups and saucers.

With the experience gained in the Intermediate Mold Making Course,  you will continue to build the rough mold and finally the master.  From the master, you will make a prefect case mold, and from the case mold, you can construct the block.  Once the block has been made, you can cast hundreds of production molds to manufacture your own original pieces.

Upon the completion of each course, you will receive  a Masterline Molds Certificate of Achievement. An individual Diploma is issued for each course. So you can earn several Diplomas.
