AN INTRODUCTION
Mold Making

The Rubber Mold Making Diploma Course is a two-day, fast-paced program.  This course covers all the tips, tricks, and hints to make perfect rubber molds.  The course starts with mounting the model and setting up the molding area to begin making  a latex mold.

You will learn how to make a polyurethane rubber mold by mounting the model and setting up the molding area.  You will then measure and mix  the polyurethane rubber  and pour your first polyurethane RTV rubber mold.  As the polyurethane takes twenty-hours to cure, you will learn how to de-mold the polyurethane mold on the following day.

You will learn how to make a silicone rubber mold by mounting the model and setting up the molding area.  You will then measure and mix the silicone rubber and pour your first silicone rubber mold.  As the silicone takes twenty-fours to cure, you will learn how to de-mold the silicone mold on the following day.

Special care is taken to show you how to prepare the model to cast a rubber mold.   We also show you the proper mold releasing agents to use and how to apply them when making a latex, polyurethane, and silicone rubber mold.

The course starts with making a latex mold as several coats of rubber have to be applied to the model.  Once the latex mold is in progress, we begin prepping the models to mix and pour the polyurethane and silicone rubbers.  As it takes 24-hours to cure these rubbers.  These molds will be ready for de-molding on the second day of the course.

You will learn how to make and lock the rubber mold onto the 'mother mold'.

The successful completion of the Rubber Mold Making Course will enable you to make latex rubber molds to cast outdoor garden concrete figurines. The polyurethane rubber molds are great for general use such as, plaster, stone, concrete.  The silicone rubber mold is used to make epoxy resins, polyurethane foams, as well as plaster, stone, concrete, all soap bases and candle wax products.
