You are shown to how to measure and mechanically mix plaster using the correct ratios. We discuss different types of gypsum, hydro-stone, and hydro-cal.  We discuss soaking times, mixing times, and resting times.  Remember, a quality molds starts with knowing the proper procedures to follow when mixing plaster.

You will learn how to make and register spares to fit accurately to build the gate or reservoir on each mold. You will make various types of spares.  You will learn the correct way to place registers or locks in the mold and you will be shown different ways and styles to make locks. You will be shown you how to make your own special molding release. This same recipe was shown to me by the mold masters many years ago. You will be shown how to soap or release the blocks, and pour quality production molds by either your own use or for use by others.

We also spend a few hours at a our plaster supplier and distributor to learn more about other types of plasters and their applications.  This also includes an opportunity to purchase specialty tools and equipment not found in stores or pottery houses for making models and working with plaster.
