Mold Making Course

This special two-day program lets a novice mold maker experience the properties of working with plaster and basic mold making techniques.

It may be wiser for some individuals to enroll in the Beginner Diploma Course before proceeding with the Intermediate Diploma Course. Sometimes, you may have little doubts or a little trepidation of whether or not you are suited to mold making let alone the physical aspects of making molds.

As a beginner, you will be working with measuring and then mechanically mixing plaster, setting up forms, and pouring plaster. The course instruction is one-on-one with complete hands-on training.

To start making their first mold, you will be show you how to correctly prepare your work site, and set down the model.  There is a further discussion of the different types of gypsums (plasters and hydro-stones) along with their properties.  We then show you the correct way to measure, mix, and pour plaster.  There is a discussion and demonstration on the use of the tools and equipment used in mold making.

Care and understanding is taken to answer your simplest questions and to raise questions about mold making. Combined with the one-on-one course instruction and hands-on training, you will soon gain confidence to master the basic techniques of mold making.  You will also learn how to make a spare to form the gate or reservoir of the mold.

And you will continue the process by  turning the one-piece mold into a two-piece mold.  Taking pictures and writing lots of notes are allowed.  Sorry! video cameras or voice recorders are not allowed on this or any  course.  This introductory course gives the beginner sufficient knowledge and information to construct an open-pour one-piece mold.

More importantly, this course let's you know if you would like to advance to the Intermediate Mold Making Diploma Course.

Upon the completion of each course, you will receive  a Masterline Molds Certificate of Achievement. An individual Diploma is issued for each course. So you can earn several Diplomas.
